“Rhys Radio - In Your Community, For Your Community”
Young people kick start a new proposed Radio Station In Penrhys (Feb 07)

178 young people from all over the Rhondda Fach took part in a logo design and name competition for Penrhys's own community radio station. This exciting new venture will be based at Penrhys in Canolfan Rhys Arts Centre . 10 Finalists from schools in Rhondda Fach were selected to attend a special art workshop at Canolfan Rhys Arts Centre and their fantastic designs were then painted onto canvass for a colourful display in the radio studio. Due to the high standard of work produced by the children, the public were asked to vote and choose the winner in the Penrhys Open day on Saturday March 3rd.

The lucky winner has now been chosen and congratulations go to Kate Israel from Maerdy Juniors whose winning design of a dancing Daffodil and Leek will be used as the final logo for the radio station! We’d like to thank everyone that took part in the competition and for the teachers and parents enthusiasm and support for the project. If you would like any more information about how you can get involved as a radio volunteer, please get in touch!
